By invitation Only Week 4

On Tuesday we had another visit from Wendy who is the manager of “By Invitation Only”. This week we made a card that your partner (client) designed for their wedding.

To make the invitation for the client we got given the different patterned papers, ribbon, and other materials like lace and diamonds and the invitation size such as a square or rectangle.

This session was to teach us how to make wedding invitations, and what the process is to making a wedding invitation, such as making the invitation as perfect as you can by sticking everything in the area it is supposed to, without the piece of material on an angle, and cutting the paper to the correct size and cutting the paper straight.

We are all very excited for next week’s session; we had lots of fun and can’t wait for what Wendy has planned for us next week.

By Invitation Only – Week 2

On Tuesday the 6th of August Jahaira, Nicola, Tahlia and Anabelle had a visit from Wendy who showed us how to make invitations. This week Wendy showed us her children’s invitations that she made.

After she showed us her invitations we got to make our own, there were different patterned papers, owl and horse shaped cutters, vines, stick on flowers, ribbons for making bows and special craft tools for making invitations.

We all used the owl cut out, flowers, vines and patterned paper to make our invitations, we were all really excited and enjoyed making the invitations and all the interesting tools and materials we used.

Craft

On Tuesday the 30th of July Nicola, Tahlia, Jahaira and Anabelle had a visit from Wendy who was teaching us about her business. Her business makes hair accessories and invitations for birthdays and weddings.

When we were there Wendy showed us all her equipment that helps her make the invitations, one of the things she used was called a scorer that helps fold the cards. She also had special cutters that cut out different shapes and lots of materials for us.

We also asked Wendy some questions about her business like how do you keep your customers satisfied? The answer was to make an invitation they want and like.

Wendy said that she has to make every invitation/card look identical, she uses her paper cutter and ruler to make everything equal, the most used piece of equipment is her ruler because she wants to make sure everything is perfect for the customer.

The following week we will be making an invitation that she might use for a birthday or wedding. We are all very excited to learn more about Wendy’s business and making more invitations and decorating them.

My Inquiry

This term, I did my inquiry topic about rain. When I started my research about rain, there were interesting facts about rain. After I found my facts about rain, I started to do my power point and then my poster. After about four or so weeks, it was time to do the presentations. It was fun because I got to do my rain experiment. Everyone said that my power point and my poster was great and also my experiment was cool too! I had a great day.
