On Wednesday 31st of July Aliyah, Sarah, Bianca, Camila, Anastasia and Mrs Elia Lentini went to the Monash Public library.
When we arrived we talked to a woman named Wendy who told us about the library and how it brings people together as a community. She told us how the library will pick up the elderly by bus and take them to the library. During our visit we learnt about a disc player called the Daisy Player. This player is given from world vision to help people who have eye problems or are blind. This requires a talking book that they put on the Daisy Player and it plays it like a CD but the difference is if you stop it and play it again after a while it will go to where you stopped.
We also met a woman called Sylvia who is 99 years old. She has been coming to the library since it opened and she has been using the bus service for about four years.
At 10:00 – 11:30 is story time for toddlers and kids up to three years old. Wendy was the helper story time; they even had time for games (e.g. Head, shoulders, knees and toes). The story that Wendy read to the kids was a pop – up book called Zoom. There was so many children enjoying there time at the library.
We all had a great time and we can’t wait to go back next week.
